Resolved Question: Is there like a regional thing in New York that determines which team you go with?

Example: Here in SF if your from the city obviously odds are you go local with the niners but everyone from Oakland goes with the raiders, or how the Houston Astros (going into baseball) are a texas team but the Texas rangers account for much of the states fanbase as well. My question is with NY having so many different teams, Yankees/Mets Jets/Giants Islanders/Rangers how do the people there decide..i'm guessing it's kinda like a Brooklyn/Manhattan Queens/Bronx kinda deal right? Of course i'm referring to the people who root for local teams obviously theres of number of individuals who choose an out-of-state team for other reasons but from what I know most or many fans root locally..so what's the situation in New york?
